Filipino-American Hernando Planells has been named Head Basketball Coach for the Hollywood Fame of the ABA

Filipino-American Hernando Planells has been named Head Basketball Coach for the Hollywood Fame of the American Basketball Association (ABA).  "I am honored and excited about this unique opportunity" Planells said, "to be a part of this great organization with fantastic ownership is what every coach dreams of".  

The Hollywood Fame are owned by a host of celebrities and professional athletes including A.J. Discala, Nick Lachey, Geoff Stults ("7th Heaven" and "The Break-Up"), Stacy Keibler ("Dancing With the Stars"), former NBA legend John Salley, former MLB All-Star Brady Anderson, the Atlanta Braves Mike Hampton, NFL quarterback Kyle Boller of the Baltimore Ravens and NASCAR's Brian Vickers, among others.

The Hollywood Fame was formed to assist players get to the next level, for many of them that means Europe or even the NBA.  Athletes from all over the country have come to play for The Hollywood Fame because of the training and exposure they will receive.  During the course of the season, players have received special instruction/coaching from former NBA Head Coach and current WNBA head coach Paul Westhead and former NBA Head Coach Don Casey.  Some of the notable names on the Hollywood Fame roster include former Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Laker Bryon Russell, AND 1 star and streetball legend Larry Williams aka Bone Collector and former UCLA Bruin Billy Knight. 

Coach Hernando Planells (Coach H) has a very diverse and successful background in basketball.  He has coached at the high school, college and professional levels and even holds the distinction of at one time being the youngest professional head basketball coach (28) in the country.  Coach Hernando has also appeared on television as the head coach of the Bouncers on SPIKE Television sports show SLAMBALL ( www.slamball.net ) and has choreographed the basketball action on movies such as "Coach Carter", "The Longest Yard", "Rebound" and others.  Besides his coaching duties with the Hollywood Fame, Coach Hernando also serves as a regional scout for Marty Blake who is the Director of Scouting for the NBA.
