Boracay, 4th best island in the world

BORACAY, Philippines - This island paradise is the fourth best island in the world, according to the American magazine Travel + Leisure's 2011 list.

Already the island has seen record tourist arrivals this year. The officer-in-charge of the Department of Tourism's sub office in Boracay, Judith Icotanim told Rappler that tourist arrivals in 2011 reached 908,875. This is the breakdown: 515,751 Filipinos; 33,102 Overseas Filipinos, and; 360,022 foreigners.

A party island and relaxing getaway mixed in one, Boracay could see one million visitors in 2012. Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez says, "If there's still dancing space, that's still okay."
