A tsunami has come!

11-26-2011 12:40:00

At the 22nd Advertising Congress, themed "Change the Game," TV5 Chairman Manny Pangilinan said, "The digital tsunami is coming. So, join me in greeting it: ‘Dito na me'" (read ABS-CBN's story below).

Those are some prophetic words. But perhaps unbeknown to Pangilinan and his colleagues--the executives at other giant Philippine TV networks--a digital tsunami is already on its way and about to hit shore! As early as 2004, Philfortune Media Group (PMG) has already created the infrastructure for a giant network and virtual community of global Filipinos, namely, Philfortune.

And now, in the eleventh month of the eleventh year (11/11), PMG feels that it’s time to launch Philfortune, which is by far the biggest among its digital tsunamis. As a social and business network, and more!, Philfortune is designed to be the premier virtual community and the best avenue for global Filipinos and entrepreneurs to connect, exchange business ideas and strategies, share resources, establish linkages and, in so doing, enhance business potentials, increase revenues, and develop mutually beneficial relationships with kababayans everywhere.

Philfortune is designed to serve the needs of millions of Filipinos worldwide. As network engineer and PMG’s founder and president Terence Elumba puts it, “We are committed to Filipino-Americans and all Filipinos around the world. We are committed to helping them achieve their online needs and wants and live a better life.”

Here's why it's even more exciting: PMG has the digital tools and a creative team to create complex but user-friendly network infrastructures. As shown in Philfortune, the PMG team can create network mega structures that combine the features of a news network, a social network, an online web mall that houses eCommerce stores, websites, forums and group sites, etc. With such capability, it is not surprising that PMG envisions a supertructure: a virtual global village that will connect nations and create an international virtual community. PMG can provide each people group or nation a framework in wich they can establish and develop  their own virtual community.

Businesses that want to make waves on the Internet can avail of PMG's servicess and have their own digital network custom-designed for them. Bill Gates who revolutionized the digital world has some important words to say about using digital tools, "If the 1980s were about quality and the 1990s were about re-engineering, then the 2000s will be about velocity. About how quickly the nature of business will change.... The successful companies of the next decade will be the ones that use digital tools to reinvent the way they work."

A digital tsunami has come! So, dito na me and you…sa PMG! Don't be left behind.

Highlight ng 4-day event ang talumpati nina ABS-CBN Chairman and CEO Eugenio Lopez III, GMA Network Chairman at CEO Atty. Felipe Gozon at TV5 Chairman Manny Pangilinan.

“Like Paquiao, TV is at a crossroad. So he has to reinvent himself,” sabi ni Gozon.

Sabi naman ni Pangilinan, “The digital tsunami is coming. So, join me in greeting it: ‘Dito na me.’”

Para naman kay Lopez, “Going into the future, we are encouraged by our strong heritage in content that affirm, that inspire. We are confident because we believe that technology only follows where the human spirit wants to go.”

Giit niya, “The future of media is unknown, we still know where ABS-CBN will go, that is because we have a guiding light: ‘In the service of the Filipino.’”

Pasok naman sa temang 'Change the Game' ng Ad Congress ang kakaibang question and answer portion na hindi inatrasan ng mga TV chairmen.

No holds barred ang tanungan portion.

Korina: “Who is number 1 today?”
Gozon: “As far as we are concerned, definitely, it’s GMA-7.”
Korina: “I’m very surprised to hear that from you. By the way, number 1, where?”

Mike Enriquez: “How long do you intend to stay number 3?”
Pangilinan: “Well, that’s today, that’s not in the future.”

Meron din namang tanong na pang-showbiz.

Luchi Cruz-Valdez: “Is Sharon Cuneta really leaving ABS-CBN to move to TV5?”
Lopez: “I don’t know. Maybe we should ask the other channel.”

“I’ve been in this business over 25 years, but it’s all I’ve ever wanted, and it’s all I wanted to do. I believe it is an honor and a privilege to work in a company that puts public service at the center, as its reason for being. So, for me, and for the people in our network, working at ABS-CBN is not a job. It’s a calling.”
